Brandon Schneider will be announced as Kansas University’s next women’s basketball coach at a Tuesday news conference, according to sources with inside knowledge of the hiring process.

Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zenger offered the job to Schneider over the weekend, and the two sides reached agreement on the terms of the contract, which has not yet been signed.

Schneider, who spent five years at Stephen F. Austin after winning the Div. II national title at Emporia State in 2010, is scheduled to meet with his players today to discuss his career move with them and is expected to make his way to Lawrence later in the day to be in place for a Tuesday morning news conference.

A native of Canyon, Texas, Schneider became the leading candidate early in the search and maintained that position throughout an extensive vetting process conducted by Zenger and those helping him with the search.

Schneider coached Stephen F. Austin to Southland Conference regular-season titles in each of the past two years.

The Ladyjacks went 23-8 overall and 16-2 in conference in the recently completed season.

Schneider, Arkansas-Little Rock’s Joe Foley and long-shot candidate Jody Adams of Wichita State were the three finalists brought to Lawrence last week for interviews.
