KU baseball tops WSU in 11

? Dakota Smith’s 11th-inning sacrifice bunt drove in his fifth run of the evening, lifting Kansas University to a wild 13-12 baseball victory over Wichita State on Wednesday at Eck Stadium.

Michael Tinsley doubled to lead off the 11th and moved to third on John Remick’s bunt. WSU intentionally walked Colby Wright, but Smith’s sacrifice scored Tinsley for the eventual game-winner.

Smith was just 1-for-4 on the night, but he had two runs and the five RBIs. Tinsley was 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI, and Matt McLaughlin was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.

The teams combined for 30 hits off a combined 13 pitchers.

They scored a combined nine runs in the first inning alone, and WSU blew an 11-6 lead.

Both teams sport 11-17 overall records.
