? Kansas University’s volleyball team defeated Denver, 25-15, 26-24, 24-26, 25-22, on Saturday night in the championship match of the Pioneer Classic.

Earlier Saturday, the Jayhawks swept Sam Houston State, 25-15, 25-17, 25-16.

The Jayhawks (5-2) had a .356 attack efficiency and held Sam Houston to a .032 hitting percentage.

“That’s a good number,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “They didn’t have a team block either, which means we were making good shots and good choices. Ainise Havili distributed the ball well for us.”

Freshman Havili led KU with 37 assists, sophomore Cassie Wait had 13 digs, and freshman Tori Miller added six digs.
