Brandon Ingram, a 6-foot-8, 180-pound senior small forward from Kinston (North Carolina) High, on Sunday night cut his list of schools to six: Kansas University, Kentucky, UCLA, North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State.
Ingram, who is ranked No. 18 in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.com, will visit KU for the Oct. 10 Late Night in the Phog. He recently visited UCLA, Duke and North Carolina. He’ll attend Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness on Oct. 17.
Duke.247sports.com reports that Ingram grew up a Duke fan, but the past two standouts out of Kinston — Jerry Stackhouse and Reggie Bullock — wound up at UNC. Stackhouse is Ingram’s AAU coach.
Ingram has led Kinston High to three straight Class 2A state titles. He had 28 points — 23 in the second half — in a 67-57 title win over North Rowan High in the 2014 state title game.
“Ingram’s game is similar to that of a Kevin Durant,” an NBA scout told Zagsblog.com. “He has the long and slender frame and he struggles defensively like Durant did early in his high school days. His shooting stroke is a big-time plus for him because he lacks strength and cannot always finish through contact.”
Of his own game, Ingram told Zagsblog: “My versatility is something I pride myself on. I can play on the perimeter, go inside against smaller defenders, shoot over the top of anybody and attack the basket.
“I am looking for a program that has a great coaching staff that can make me better. It’s also important that the coaches prepare me for the next level after college basketball,” he added.
Svi scores four in loss: KU freshman Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk scored four points off 1-of-4 shooting (2-of-5 from the free-throw line) in Ukraine’s 81-76 Group C pool play loss to Finland on Sunday at the World Cup in Spain. He was 0-for-2 from three and had four fouls in 10 minutes. Ukraine is 1-1 at the tourney.
