El Paso, Texas ? Kansas University sophomore Chase Hanna had five birdies and two eagles in his career-low round of 66 to sit in fifth place after the first day of the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Golf Invitational on Friday at the Butterfield Trail Golf Course.
KU junior Ben Welle shot 67 and was tied for sixth, and Kansas is in fourth in the team race.
Gary Daoust was was tied for 16th at 69. Other KU scores: Brock Drogosch, 71, tied for 30th; Connor Peck, 72, tied for 40th; and Logan Philley, 74, tied for 59th.
UTSA leads with 267 and is followed by New Mexico State (272), UMKC (275) and KU (276).
The tournament resumes today.
