KEEGAN RATINGS

? The Kansas University football team is now down to one chance this season to snap a road losing streak that has grown to 32 consecutive games and dates back to a 2009 victory at UTEP.

That skid, which includes all games played outside of Lawrence, includes a stretch of 25 consecutive Big 12 Conference road losses. KU’s last Big 12 road victory came Oct. 4, 2008, in Ames, Iowa.

The Jayhawks (3-8 overall, 1-7 Big 12) will close the 2014 season on Saturday at Kansas State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.

Mann a father

KU running back DeAndre Mann, who missed time in recent games because of injury, did not travel to Norman on Saturday in order to be with his wife for the birth of their son.

Mann, a junior transfer from Hartnell College and Miami native, and his wife, Olivia, welcomed a little boy, Alijah Mann, into the world early Saturday evening.

This and that…

The Jayhawks won Saturday’s opening coin toss and chose to defer their choice to the second half. OU elected to receive the opening kickoff…. KU now has lost 16 consecutive games to opponents ranked in the Top 25…. KU quarterback Michael Cummings’ 84 yards passing marked the first time in six starts this season he was held to less than 235 yards through the air…. Senior wide receiver Nick Harwell was held without a catch, snapping a streak of 40 consecutive games with a reception, which ranked as the fourth longest such streak in the nation…. Temperature at kickoff was 54 degrees, under cloudy, rainy skies with winds of 22 mph out of the southeast.
