Florida’s Finney-Smith ailing

Florida forward Dorian Finney-Smith, who suffered hairline fractures in the index and middle fingers of his left hand after a fall against William and Mary, is attempting to play with a cast protecting the injured fingers.

The 6-8, 218-pounder was named SEC sixth man of the year after averaging 8.7 points and 6.7 rebounds a game last season.

He had 15 points and five rebounds in a 67-61 win over Kansas University in Gainesville. The Gators will meet KU at 8 p.m., Dec. 5, in Allen Fieldhouse.

“It’s probably going to be a month before he starts to feel a lot better,” Florida coach Billy Donovan told collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com.

Finney-Smith suited up for Monday’s game against Miami, but ultimately couldn’t go because of pain in his hand when he caught passes.

Florida sophomore guard Dillon Graham recently announced plans to transfer after the fall semester. He had 11 points last season in 25 games.
