Self stops by to speak to WU players

Kansas University basketball coach Bill Self met with the Washburn team at the Ichabods’ shootaround on Sunday night — 24 hours before the teams squared off in an exhibition at Allen Fieldhouse.

“I told the team last night … I said, ‘We’ll do some things to make you look bad; you’ll do some things to make us look bad,” Self said. “It will give us an idea who we are playing against someone else.

“All I did was just talk about playing together and liking each other and the little things it takes to win. If you really want to win, there are some sacrifices that have to be made. But I think the message was certainly one that ‘Chip’ (WU coach Bob Chipman) has already told them many times.”
