Big 12 honors KU softball’s Pille

By Staff Reports     Mar 19, 2014

Kansas University junior Alicia Pille was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

The award, for the week ending on March 16, is the first weekly honor for Pille but the second in the row for the KU softball team. Sophomore teammate Chaley Brickey was named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week last week.

Pille earned two victories last week — back-to-back shutouts against South Dakota State and Jackson State. She tossed 12 consecutive scoreless innings, striking out 15 batters and allowing just three hits and two walks.

Kansas (19-8) begins an eight-game road trip with a doubleheader today at St. Louis. The Jayhawks play the Billikens at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Billiken Sport Complex.
