New Orleans cuts ex-Jayhawk Taylor

— Former Kansas University guard Tyshawn Taylor has been waived by the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Yahoo!Sports. Taylor this week was traded by the Brooklyn Nets to New Orleans, along with cash, for the rights to Edin Bavcic, a 29-year old Bosnian big man who was originally drafted back in 2006 by Toronto. A free agent after he clears waivers, Taylor will be able to sign with any team. It has been rumored he could be bound for the Los Angeles Clippers, who need a guard following an injury to Chris Paul.

Heard that the Nets saved 2 million in luxury tax by sending Tyshawn to New Orleans. The Pelicans got 1 million in cash, and after paying Tyshawn his guaranteed contract, say 400K, made 600K on the deal. Such is life of basketball, the business. Tyshawn will be ok

Based on those numbers, wouldn't the Pelicans have made $1 million instead of just $600K if they hadn't taken Tyshawn in the trade? What am I missing?

Then brooklyn doesn't get their break in luxury tax. If both teams don't get something it's probably not going to appeal to both teams.

If Tyshawn ends up a LA Clipper from Brooklyn via New Orleans, that would be a true "Outhouse" to "Penthouse" transition!! Here's hoping!!

Look no further than X. Henry

However Brooklyn isn't a bad gig for the kid from Hoboken, though he'll be much better off though if he can get into a situation where he'll actually play!

If Taylor can pick the best situation for him to grow and get some playing time he'll definitely be better for it. Sometimes getting drafted by teams stunts growth possibilities. Especially for non-lottery picks.

Taylor has looked decent at times and played real meaningful minutes when Paul Pierce was out. I'd be surprised if he's not picked up by someone. I am a little disappointed that he wasn't able to stick around in New Orleans and get to play some with Withey, but I'm sure he'll love going to LA if that does end up happening.
