Jayhawks land commitment from 2014 defensive end Daniel Wise

Just hours before the Jayhawks usher in the latest crop of promising prospects, Daniel Wise, a 6-foot-2, 244-pound defensive end from Hebron High in Lewisville, Texas, gave an oral commitment to Kansas University football coach Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks.

Wise, a Rivals.com two-star prospect who made an official visit to KU last fall, had offers from Colorado, Louisiana Tech, Missouri and Texas Tech. According to Jon Kirby of JayhawkSlant.com, he committed to Kansas on Thursday night and canceled an upcoming recruiting visit to Missouri.

Wise becomes the 14th commitment in the current class, leaving KU with room to add up to 12 more.

Three of the 14 commitments — defensive backs Ronnie Davis and Anthony Smithson, along with offensive lineman Keyon Haughton — signed with KU at the midyear signing date in December and will report to campus in time for the spring semester.

Signing day for the rest of the class is Feb. 5.
