KU track athletes snare pair of seconds

— Kansas University senior Michael Stigler and junior Sydney Conley each earned a second-place finish as they competed for the United States at the North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) U23 Championships.

Stigler, a three-time All-American in the 400-meter hurdles, was edged out by U.S. teammate and Colorado State’s All-American, Trevor Brown. Brown leaned through the finish .06 seconds ahead of Stigler, who took second in 49.98.

The runner-up finish is the second for Stigler after he also earned silver in the event at the same meet in 2012.

Conley placed second in the long jump. The Fayetteville, Arkansas, native leaped 5.98 meters (19 feet, 71⁄2 inches) and was runner-up to fellow American Shakeela Saunders, (6.40 meters, 21 feet).
