Manhattan ? Seniors Meghan Potee and Thanuttra Boonraksasat finished 1-2 to lead Kansas University’s women’s golf team to its second straight Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational title Tuesday at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
The Jayhawks defeated runner-up Kansas State 910-926 for the team title in the 15-team event which rotates annually between Lawrence and Manhattan.
“I’m very proud of the team for getting the win in Manhattan,” KU coach Erin O’Neil said. “It was another tough day with the wind and while we had a few bumps along the way we held it together well. Four of our five (scores) finished in the top 12 individually which shows that we are on the right track.”
Potee (75-75-74 — 224) captured the first individual collegiate tournament title of her career, and Boonraksasat (78-74-74 — 227) took second place.
Three other Jayhawks finished in the top 12: Minami Levonowich was eighth, and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn and Gabby DiMarco tied for 12th.
