Kickoff for KU-KSU Sunflower Showdown set for 11 a.m. Nov. 30

Game will be televised by Fox Sports 1

The 2013 Sunflower Showdown between Kansas University and Kansas State will kick off at 11 a.m. on Nov. 30 at Memorial Stadium, the Big 12 Conference announced today.

The Jayhawks and Wildcats will be closing the regular season against one another for the first time in years, with KSU moving into the slot previously reserved for Missouri on the Jayhawks' schedule.

With Missouri now playing in the SEC, there was a concerted effort to move the KU-KSU match up to the final week of the season to build the hype for a game that had been played in the past as early as October.

The game will be televised by Fox Sports 1 and will mark the season finale for Kansas.

KU (3-7 overall, 1-6 Big 12) will play at Iowa State (1-9, 0-7) at 7 p.m. on Saturday in a game that represents KU's last chance this season to snap a road losing streak that dates back to 2009. It also features the one-win Cyclones favored by six points.

So KU vs ISU, the two worst teams is on at 7pm but a rivalry game to end the season is on at 11am? Someone please explain how this makes any sense.

The Big 12's logic was that the KU-ISU is going to have bad ratings no matter what time slot it was in so they put the OU-KSU game which should have more interest in a time slot where it would have less competition because there aren't as many good games at that time slot.

Matt Tait explained it in a previous article's discussion. But I'm with you, It's silly to me too.
