The Kansas University men’s club bowling team placed fifth out of 38 teams over the weekend at the Leatherneck Classic in Moline, Ill.

The tournament included six individual games on Day 1 and 16 Baker (alternating-bowler) games on Day 2. The top eight Baker teams went on to a best two-out-of-three, match-play format on Sunday, and KU lost in its opening Baker match to Vincennes, 205-179, 203-203, 225-184.

KU’s best highlight came on Day 1, when the five-man team of Nick Binetti (210), Tyler Woods (236), Ryan Miller (269), Jessy Bauer (256) and Dylan Burns (257) combined for a team score of 1,228. That was the second-highest score of the entire tournament, just two pins behind the best five-man team score.

Woods led KU with a 219.3-pin average, followed by Bauer (218.5), Miller (207), Burns (196.8), Binetti (187.6) and Chris Flowers (163.3).
