Raleigh, N.C. ? Kansas University’s softball team won a pair of one-hit shutouts Friday, defeating North Carolina A&T, 17-0, and Stony Brook, 12-0.
Sophomore Alicia Pille tossed her 10th career shutout to down Stony Brook, in game two of the Wolfpack Challenge.
Pille (4-2) recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts while carrying a no-hitter into the fifth. In a rare turn of events, a solo home run that would’ve broken up the no-hitter was recalled due to an error in the lineup. With one out remaining, however, Seawolf pinch hitter Lauren Kamachi drove a single to left to officially end the no-hit bid.
Kansas improved to 12-4.
Earlier Friday, Maggie Hull hit her second grand slam of the season, and freshman Kelsey Kessler struck out a career-high 11 as the Jayhawks cruised past North Carolina A&T.
Hull moved into second place on the KU career-RBI list with 118.
Kessler (4-2) walked just two and allowed just one hit for her first career shutout.
