Kansas University closer Jordan Piché earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association’s All-Midwest Region second team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Piché, an All-Big 12 first-teamer who also earned the conference’s Newcomer of the Year award, led the Big 12 with 12 saves in his first season at Kansas. Piché transferred from Indian Hills Community College before his junior season.
Piché compiled a 6-4 record and led the Jayhawks with a 1.68 ERA. He also had 49 strikeouts and just 10 walks in his first year at Kansas.
Piché was joined on the ABCA Midwest Region team by six others from the Big 12, including first-team selections Ross Kivett (Kansas State), Austin Fisher (K-State) and Jonathan Gray (Oklahoma).
