The Kansas men’s basketball team moved up to No. 2 in the USA Today coaches poll and also into a tie for third in the latest Associated Press poll released Monday.

The Jayhawks (16-1) received eight of 31 first-place votes in the coaches poll and seven of 65 first-place votes in the AP ranking.

Duke is No. 1 in both polls. In the AP poll, Michigan is No. 2, followed by KU and Syracuse, who tied for third.

Kansas State — KU’s opponent Tuesday — is the only other Big 12 team ranked in either poll. The Wildcats are 11th in the AP ranking and 13th in the coaches’ ballot.
