true. self is a good college coach, but he just can't produce nba talent.

Bill Self brings out the best in his players. In some cases that may result in a marginal nba prospect becoming high level prospect. The player may not advance as much in the nba as expected because he has already advanced significantly in Bill Self's system.

Per wikipedia- "Bruce Weber assumed the head coach position for the Illini in April 2003 and helped develop Williams throughout his remaining collegiate career. As a sophomore, Williams improved his scoring average from 6.3 to 14.0 points per game and improved his assists per game from the prior year to 6.17."

So you can argue- self recruited him, but weber made him the guard he is.

Also, who else can you name outside of Deron williams?
