Kansas University’s swim team fell to Minnesota, 179-119, in the Jayhawks’ first home meet of the year on Saturday at Robinson Natatorium.
Sophomore Alina Vats led the way for KU (1-1) with top finishes in three events. Vats placed first in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and anchored Kansas’ first-place 200 freestyle relay team.
Senior Rebecca Swank earned the Jayhawks’ only other first-place finish with a victory in the 1,000 freestyle. Swank, who also took second in the 500 freestyle, was one of eight Kansas seniors honored during Senior Day festivities before the meet.
KU will face Nebraska-Omaha at 5 p.m. Thursday in Omaha, Neb.
