KU tennis 7-3 on first day at Tribe Invitational

? The Kansas University women’s tennis team started its second tournament of the season by winning seven of ten matches on the first day of the Tribe Invitational hosted by William & Mary.

The Jayhawks went 5-2 in singles play, led by two three-set victories by juniors Claire Dreyer and Haley Fournier.

Freshman Maria Jose Cardona defeated William & Mary’s Hope Johnson in a second-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6 (10), and sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña and senior Victoria Khanevskaya routed their opponents to cap off singles play.

Kansas won two of three doubles matches, as Cardona and Fournier remained undefeated, and Dreyer and Anastasija Trubica also advanced.
