KU’s Diamond Dixon advances

? Kansas University sophomore Diamond Dixon placed third in her heat and 11th overall in qualifying to advance to the semifinals of the 400 meters on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field.

Dixon finished in 52.66 seconds to earn a berth to the semifinals, which will be held at 7:15 tonight.

Two other Jayhawks failed to advance Friday.

Kyle Clemons was sixth in his heat of the 400 in 46.61 seconds and placed 20th overall, the same place earned by thrower Jessica Maroszek in the discus (163 feet, 6 inches).

Today, KU’s Andrea Geubelle will compete in triple-jump qualifying.
