Manhattan ? Kansas University golfer Audrey Yowell won the 90th Kansas Women’s Amateur Championship by firing a final-round 1-over 72 Thursday at Manhattan Country Club.
A native of McPherson, Yowell entered the final round with a one-stroke lead over Wichita State women’s assistant coach Krista Peterson.
Yowell’s 72 was the low round of the day, giving her a three-round total of 221 (74-75-72). Peterson was second with a 227 (81-69-77), and KU sophomore Michelle Woods finished third with a 228.
Like Yowell, Woods improved her final round by carding a 74 on her home course. She opened the event with a 76 on Tuesday and shot a 78 on Wednesday.
