Kansas center Jeff Withey has been named the Oscar Robertson national player of the week, the United States Basketball Writers Association announced Tuesday.
Withey, a 7-foot center from San Diego, Calif., averaged 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and five blocks in KU’s victories over Baylor and Oklahoma State last week.
Withey is the second Jayhawk to pick up the weekly honor this season, as KU’s Thomas Robinson also won the award on Dec. 11.
KU is the only school to have two players win the national award this season.
