Football player James Sims appears in court

James D. Sims, a 20-year-old Kansas University football player, appeared in Lawrence Municipal Court on Wednesday on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence.

Sims entered a not guilty plea to the charge, which stems from an April 8 arrest. He told the judge he intended to discuss his options in the case with the prosecutor. He is next scheduled to appear in court May 21.
