Kansas’ Carolyn Davis on Wooden preseason list

Kansas University senior Carolyn Davis was named to the 30-player Preseason John R. Wooden Award list on Monday.

She also has been named to the State Farm Wade Trophy Watch List for player of the year as well as to the Preseason All-Big 12 team.

“I am very honored to be named to the Wooden Award preseason list in the company of such talented players,” said Davis. “My teammates and coaches deserve a lot of the credit because they push me everyday to be the best player I can be.”

One of four Big 12 Conference players on the list, Davis averaged 19.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game her junior season. The Houston, Texas hit 66 percent of her shots.

“I am excited and very proud of Carolyn to be recognized with this prestigious award. To be associated with the top players in the country is an honor for her and a product of her hard work,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said.

Davis becomes the second Jayhawk named to the Wooden preseason list. Danielle McCray earned a spot in 2009. Other Big 12 players on the list: Brittney Griner, Odyssey Sims, Baylor; Tyra White, Texas A&M.
