Regent: Big 12 still best fit for Kan. schools

By Associated Press     Oct 5, 2011

? Kansas Board of Regents Chairman Ed McKechnie says the Big 12 remains the best fit for Kansas and Kansas State, regardless of whether Missouri is looking at other conferences.

Missouri’s curators voted Tuesday to allow the university to explore other options rather than commit to staying with the soon-to-be nine-team Big 12.

McKechnie said Wednesday he’s disappointed in Missouri’s decision and believes it’s not in the best interests of academics or student athletes.

He also says Kansas and Kansas State have options, but the Big 12 is the best option at this time.
