PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. ? Kansas University tennis senior Ekaterina Morozova went 0-2 in singles competition and was eliminated Tuesday on the first day of qualifying for the ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Tennis Championships. Morozova was one of 64 tennis athletes selected for the qualifying.
“These were Kate’s first fall matches and you could tell she wasn’t match ready yet,” Kansas coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “It was still a good start for her and hopefully these two matches will help her get ready for doubles on Thursday.”
In the first round, Morozova lost to South Carolina’s Anya Morgina, 6-3, 6-4. Morozova, a senior from Togliatte, Russia, then fell to Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV, 6-4, 7-5 to be eliminated.
Morozova and sophomore Dylan Windom will compete in the main doubles draw of the ITA Championships on Thursday.
