Looking at KU 11’s on 11-11

At 11:11 and 11 seconds this morning or at 11:11 and 11 seconds tonight, when the calendar reads 11/11/11, Kansas University basketball fans might want to reflect on the contributions of some former Jayhawks who made the school proud back when they wore No. 11.

Late great Otto Schnellbacher, known as the Double Threat from Sublette because he played both football and basketball, wore the number on the basketball court from 1946-48. Pass-first point guards Mark Turgeon (1984-87), Jacque Vaughn (1994-97) and Aaron Miles (2002-05) also wore No. 11.

Aishah Sutherland wears it for the women’s basketball team that opens its season at 2 p.m. Sunday in Allen Fieldhouse against Western Michigan. Senior A.J. Steward, No. 11 and a reserve tight end, plays his final home game Saturday in Memorial Stadium against Baylor for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

I think they're called Pulitzers.

There had to be more than 11 players wearing #11 over the 111 years of KU sports.

This could have been a much better article, if there was some research involved.

National Champion Lincoln Minor wore #11.

I'm pretty sure someone did 11 seconds worth of research to write this article. The person who wrote it probably didn't make it to 11th grade and/or they might be 11 years old. The author probably had to take his GED test 11 times.

Your snide comments make me want to punch you in the face 11 times. I'd love to come to your place of work and heckle you. The negativity from KU fans on these message boards make us all look really bad as a fan base. If you don't like the article don't read it.

Unfortunately, you won't know whether you will dislike it until you read it.

Just my 11 cents worth...

Immediately after reading this article I was positive that it was worthless; however, once I read these great posts I now have a true appreciation of its value. No article no posts. 11.
