Husband of KU softball coach Megan Smith dies

The husband of Kansas University softball coach Megan Smith has died.

Paul Buske died Tuesday after a bout with cancer, according to KU. He was 40.

“The Kansas Athletics family is deeply saddened by Paul’s passing,” said KU athletics director Sheahon Zenger. “He was a terrific husband to Megan and father to Cooper, and was a spirited, supportive fan of Kansas softball. Our thoughts and prayers are with Megan and Cooper during this most difficult time.”

Smith has coached the Jayhawks since 2009.
