Kansas forward Marcus Morris was selected as the Big 12's player of the week, the conference announced Monday morning.

A 6-foot-9 junior from Philadelphia, Morris averaged 24.5 points and 12.0 rebounds while making 70.8 percent of his shots as KU opened league play with victories over Iowa State and Nebraska.

Morris posted career-highs in points (33) and rebounds (13) against Iowa State on Wednesday before contributing 16 points and 11 rebounds against Nebraska on Saturday, where he also posted his 1,000th collegiate point.

Great job Marcus, way to be the leader for this team leading by example. Let's take it to Baylor tonight.

Great week for Marcus, but if he plays against Baylor like he disappeared in the first half against Nebraska, we're going to be in real trouble.

It seemed like Marcus had gotten over the "disappearing act" for significant minutes that he showed early in the season. He had a bunch of games in a row where he was engaged and played with passion from the onset. Then, the first half against Nebraska. Having been in Waco the last time we had a highly ranked team and was upset, we can't afford it tonight!

Play like the last 16 minutes of the Nebraska game and we'll be fine! Rock Chalk!

Nice going, Marcus! Love watching you and your bro. Love to see you both carve up Da Bears tonight! Rock Chalk!

good job Marcus! you really carried us in Ames...that was awesome. until our guards get going, you'll probably have to do that night in, and night out for awhile. Maybe not 33 and 13 ...but pretty close ....tee he.

I like the way our forwards are slamming this year instead of using the glass. Keep up the good work Marcus!

I still think he's playing tentatively on the defensive end since the "elbow" game at Cal. And since that happened it may actually be a good thing that he is. I do know the officials watch tape and conference often about this type of behavior. But congratulations are deserved anyway. Like Dad used to say "just keep your nose clean."

player of the week vs. newcomer of the week...we'll see (although McMorris probably won't be guarding Perry as much as MkMorris, but hey I really don't have a clue so maybe we'll see them pushing each other around tonight).

Congrats, Marcus. A really fine week of play. Here's hoping the Tyshawn Threesome can settle down and avoid so many turnovers, managing to find you with accurate passing tonight.

No days off Marcus.

Gotta keep getting better.
