By Staff Reports     Dec 21, 2011

With huge nights from two of its junior captains Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse, Kansas University’s women’s basketball team handled Oral Roberts, 85-68.

Forward Carolyn Davis led all scorers with 25 points in just 29 minutes while also grabbing a game-high 11 boards. KU point guard Angel Goodrich, meanwhile, distributed 14 assists for the Jayhawks (10-1).

The KU single-game record for assists is 18, held by Lisa Braddy, who set the mark in 1989. Goodrich’s 14-assist night put her in sole possession of the third-best single-game assist total in program history. Goodrich passed out 15 in a game against Iowa State as a sophomore.

Senior forward Aishah Sutherland finished with 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting. The Jayhawks’ third captain, junior guard Monica Engelman, scored 16 points and reserve Chelsea Gardner, a 6-foot-3 freshman forward, scored 10 points in only nine minutes.
