? Sophomore Maggie Hull launched her third grand slam of the season over the left-field wall in the fifth inning to give Kansas University’s softball team a lead it would not relinquish in an eventual 8-6 victory over Iowa State on Saturday.

KU improved to 29-20 overall, 2-14 in the Big 12. ISU fell to 20-21 and 2-8.

Hull’s homer was her eighth of the season. It gave KU a 7-6 lead, and freshman Laura Vickers hit her fourth homer in the seventh to set the final margin and tie the school record for single-season home runs (54).

Allie Clark (12-7) earned the win with four innings of relief. She gave up a run on four hits with three strikeouts.

Hull had three hits on the day, while Vickers and Mariah Montgomery each had two.

KU will travel Wednesday to Wichita State.
