Jayhawk wins discus at Texas Relays

? Kansas University’s Jessica Maroszek won the “A Section” discus title to pace the Jayhawks during the second day of the Texas Relays on Friday. Maroszek’s first toss of 177 feet, 4 inches, was her best.

Sophomore Francine Simpson placed second in the long jump A Section at 21-23/4.

Freshman vaulter Demi Payne finished third in the ‘B’ Section of the women’s pole vault at 13-33/4.

On the men’s side, Donny Wasinger finished second in the men’s A 1,500 meters with his time of 3:48.14. Freshman thrower Johann Swanepoel was third in the A Section javelin (238-4).
