Kansas men’s cross country first, women second

? Kansas University’s men’s cross country team placed first, while the women took second at the Missouri Cross Country Challenge on Saturday.

The Jayhawks competed against Missouri, UMKC and Stephens College (Mo.).

The Kansas men placed in all but one of the top five spots, winning with a score of 19.

KU junior Donny Wasinger took first overall in the men’s 8K race.

Senior Nick Caprario finished a close second with a time of 25:49.7.

“The men ran very well,” KU coach Stanley Redwine said. “There was a great team effort, and we are going to continue to get better to prepare for our upcoming competition.”

The women finished with 31 points, six behind winner Missouri.

KU sophomore Allie Marquis placed second overall with a personal-best 18:01.90 in the 5K race.

The Jayhawks will compete on Oct. 2 at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis.
