Las Cruces, N.M. — Kansas University’s men’s golf team is tied for fifth place after two rounds of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.
The Jayhawks shot a 295 in round one and a 290 in round two.
Kansas trails leader New Mexico State by 11 strokes.
KU sophomore Alex Gutesha is in a tie for sixth place among individuals, shooting a 72-70.
Senior Nate Barbee, coming off his win at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, is tied for 25th. Barbee struggled in the first round with a 79, but fired a 69 in round two. Sophomore Chris Gilbert is also tied for 25th. The third round begins today.
Nugent paces KU women
Kiawah Island, S.C. — Katy Nugent, tied for sixth place individually, led Kansas University’s women’s golf team to a fifth-place standing after one round of the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday. Nugent, a junior, fired rounds of 73 and 71 to sit at at 144.
Red-shirt freshman Thanuttra Boonraksasat tied for 20th.
