The 1000 block of Massachusetts Street will be closed to traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday for a Kansas University Homecoming celebration.

KU Athletics, the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Lawrence Inc., and the city are teaming up to host a block party from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street.

The event will include a live broadcast of football coach Turner Gill’s Hawk Talk radio show, a pep rally, the KU Pep Band, and a kids zone with inflatable games.

The block party is part of KU’s homecoming week festivities, which culminate with a football game against Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Stadium.
