KU women take down North Dakota State, 61-53

Kansas forward Aishah Sutherland posted 17 points and 11 rebounds, leading the KU women to a 61-53 victory over North Dakota State on Friday night in the Basketball Traveler’s Classic at Allen Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Carolyn Davis contributed 14 points, while freshman guard Keena Mays added 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in her first start.

The Jayhawks only committed nine turnovers, their fewest in a game since 2006.

KU (4-0) will play Memphis at 6 p.m. Saturday in its second game of the Basketball Traveler’s Classic at Allen Fieldhouse.
