By J-W Staff Reports     May 5, 2010

Katy Nugent has transferred from Arkansas to play golf at Kansas University, it was announced Tuesday by Jayhawk head coach Erin O’Neil. Nugent will be a junior in the fall.

Nugent, a former Kansas state high school champion at Andover, played two years for the Razorbacks. Nugent played in all 10 of Arkansas’ tournaments as a true freshman in 2009. As a sophomore this past season she played in three of four fall events, placing second among the Razorbacks in two tournaments.

Nugent claimed an individual state title as a sophomore at Andover High School before posting consecutive runner-up finishes as a junior and senior. She won nine of 10 tournaments as a senior. Nugent was a four-time league and regional champion during her prep career.

Last summer, Nugent won the Kansas Women’s Amateur while recording the only under-par score in the tournament.
