Norman, Okla. ? Kansas University’s softball team was shut out for the second straight game in a 7-0 loss to No. 12/10 Oklahoma on Sunday in the Jayhawks’ final regular-season Big 12 road game.
Freshman Mariah Montgomery went 2-for-3 for the only hits by the Jayhawks (19-32 overall, 1-15 Big 12) against winner Michelle Gascoigne (7-0).
OU scored two runs in the bottom of the first before Kansas’ defense shut down the Sooners over the next four innings. But OU (39-10, 13-3) unloaded for five runs on five hits and three walks in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
The Jayhawks travel to Drake on Wednesday for a doubleheader in their final nonconference games of the season. The twinbill is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
