Late rally sinks KU baseball, 5-3

? Despite three hits from left fielder Jimmy Waters, the No. 19-ranked Kansas University baseball team fell, 5-3, at Tulane on Wednesday at Turchin Stadium.

The Green Wave won their sixth in a row and improved to 12-6, while Kansas fell in back-to-back games for the first time this season to drop to 11-6.

The Jayhawks took the lead, 3-2, on a two-out single by Brett Lisher in the eighth inning.

Tulane came back with three runs in its half of the eighth to seal the victory. Senior Travis Blankenship allowed a leadoff single and a double before recording an out on a sacrifice fly, which tied the score at 3.

Junior reliever Brett Bochy came on, but allowed a two-out double, which plated the go-ahead run. It was Bochy’s first blown save of the season.

Waters led the offense with three hits and an RBI.

The Jayhawks (11-6) will travel to Saint Louis University for a two-game weekend series beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Billiken Sports Center.
