Bill Self had this to say to the Journal-World Monday night about University of Texas officials indicating on the school’s official website that the Longhorns will remain in the Big 12:
“I am excited about what’s being reported and we’ll reserve any further comment until the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed which hopefully will take place (Tuesday) morning.”
Of saying all along that that he felt there was a great chance the Big 12 would be saved, Self said: “It’s not because I had a magic ball.
“I hope that it is true. It’s what we hoped all along. We thought it was the best scenario for us and everybody thought it best for them (Longhorns) as well. In regards to this crazy subject, we should all understand it’s been very fluid and I’m hopeful as we all are that this will be finalized and we’ll have no further comment until it is.”
The Longhorns are planning a Tuesday morning news conference to discuss the school’s remaining in the Big 12.
