Kansas University freshman Mason Finley was named the Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Finley will compete at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships June 9-12 in the shot put and the discus. He currently ranks third in both events entering the meet.
His top mark this season in the shot put was 19.26 meters (63-02.25 feet), while his top mark in the discus was 60.18 meters (197-05 feet).
