Lincoln, Neb. ? Kansas University sophomore-to-be Audrey Yowell won her first-round match at the 80th annual Women’s Trans Amateur Golf Championship on Wednesday.
Yowell, who qualified for match play by tying for 31st place with back-to-back rounds of 78, defeated Jackie Shepherd of Delafield, Wis., in 22 holes in the round of 64.
Yowell will meet Kerry Postillion of Scottsdale, Ariz., in the second round. Postillion posted a convincing 6 and 5 win in her first-round match.
