Juco offensive-line recruit Bo Adams won’t come to KU after all

Kansas University recruit Bo Adams, an offensive lineman from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, said Wednesday that his efforts to transfer to KU were blocked by the NCAA clearinghouse, making Adams’ move to KU unlikely.

Adams, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound guard, planned to come to KU as a walk-on and was expected to enroll in time to begin taking classes in January. Doing so would have made the Omaha, Neb., native eligible to participate in spring drills. Adams, a sophomore at IWCC, said Wednesday that a couple of classes he took would not transfer to KU and that he would have to return to junior college for another semester in order to become eligible.

Adams did not indicate what his plans were and did not say if he would continue playing football beyond junior college.

If there’s one position in KU’s 2011 recruiting class where coach Turner Gill can take a hit, it’s offensive line. Even with Adams falling through the cracks, six O-linemen remain committed to join the Jayhawks next season.
