Monica Engelman scored 17 points and added eight rebounds, leading the Kansas women’s basketball team to a 73-65 victory over SMU on Saturday afternoon in Dallas.
KU improved to 8-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
Aishah Sutherland contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, while Keena Mays was the only other Jayhawk in double figures with 10 points.
After shooting just 28 percent in the first half, KU made 15 of its 24 shots in the second half (63 percent) to help overcome a 32-31 halftime deficit.
The Jayhawks will play on the road again at 6 p.m. Thursday, taking on Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
