KU soccer picked eighth in preseason poll

Kansas University’s women’s soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 coaches’ preseason poll.

The Jayhawks received 45 points in the poll, putting them behind Colorado (54 points) and ahead of Baylor (29 points).

Last season, KU went 12-8-2 overall and 4-6 in Big 12 play, ending the season in a seventh-place tie.

Texas A&M was picked to win the Big 12, receiving 95 points and eight first-place votes.

Second-place Nebraska, third-place Missouri and fourth-place Oklahoma State also received one-first place vote.

Texas rounded out the top 5. Texas Tech was picked to place sixth.

Oklahoma and Iowa State were picked 10th and 11th, respectively.

The Jayhawks host Creighton in an exhibition game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
