Self’s ‘think tank’ supports youth

By J-W Staff Reports     May 5, 2009

Bill Self’s Assists Foundation is sponsoring a youth wellness “Think Tank,” on Friday, June 5 at Kansas City Wyandotte High School.

The Think Tank, according to organizers, “is an open forum created to bring together members of the Assists Alliance to brainstorm the best possible systems of service and support for today’s youth.”

KU basketball coach Self said: “Since we launched the Foundation we have had many friends contact us about their initiatives that aim to help the young people of our community. And what we have learned is that most of these folks do not have an efficient way to sit at the same table to share the projects being pursued by their respective organizations. Our goal is to bring them together to help eliminate duplication of efforts and resources. This is especially important in our current economic climate.”
