Ross Randall, who has been involved in the Kansas University golf program for the last 30 years, announced his retirement on Tuesday.
The retirement is effective immediately.
“It’s hard to believe I’ve been doing this for 30 years,” Randall said in a release. “I want to thank Lew Perkins and KU for a great run. I’ve loved every moment of it. My best memories are with my players and watching how they’ve matured over the years.”
Randall was KU’s men’s golf coach for 28 years before becoming the school’s Director of Golf Operations in May 2007. In that position, his main focus was fundraising for a new indoor hitting facility that was completed in the fall of 2008.
As a coach, Randall led seven KU teams to the NCAA Championships and 19 to regional berths.
“Ross did a terrific job for Kansas Athletics and the University of Kansas,” KU athletic director Lew Perkins said in a release. “He dedicated his professional life to helping young men become better golfers and better people, and we are grateful for his service.”
Randall coached five All-Americans during his coaching tenure, including two-time All-America honorees Chris Thompson, Ryan Vermeer and Chris Marshall.
