Albany, Ga. ? Kansas University senior Meghan Gockel shot a 4-under par 68 to take medalist honors in the qualifying round of the Women’s Southern Golf Amateur on Monday.
Gockel edged a trio of players, who each shot 69, and will be the top seed when match play begins today. The Dallas native will meet Meaghan Green of Jacksonville, Fla. in the first round of the championship flight. Green shot a 76 in the qualifying round.
